Ok how about going into safe mode and changing the driver to "Ethernet controller" then reboot. I have never tried this but it might work. Why do you want to change the driver? If you just want to update the driver, why not just load the updated drive onto the system? If you don't want the driver to load at all, you should disable the device in the bios. I was bored and had to at least attempt to answer this even though I am not a Dim tech.

I donot know why you are trying to uninstall the drivers, IF you have Win XP or Win 2K when you reboot they tend to load the drivers are you have discoverred, If you beed to disable it you can disable it in the device manager or goto the BIOS and then to integrated devices option where you can disable all integrated devices IP: Logged |

To really kill it, uninstall the device, but don't reboot. Use the "find" feature to scan all .ini files for that particular ethernet card using the "containing text" and deleting them. Then reboot. When device manager loads, it'll rebuild it's hardware list without any knowledge of drivers for that particular device, and ask for a driver. IP: Logged |

You could always try and disable it through the system BIOS. This will effectively "switch of" the card and therefore not be visible to Windows. This can be double checked in the Device Manager. I believe you access the BIOS by tapping F2 during the initial DELL splash screen on startup. Once in the BIOS look ubder "Intergrated Devices" or similar to locate the ethernet device and switch it off IP: Logged |
