i have a lat***ude CPx, and it shuts down a lot. it makes a sound like the CD does when it initializes, and then goes to the DELL BIOS screen. Any ideas? seen this before?

Could be a couple of things. One reason it shuts down might my your system is over heating. When the system just shuts down like that the thurmal sensors in your laptop will auto. shutdown. make sure your fans are running. if not you might need to have it sent in. to be honest it probley a hardware issue. upgrade your bios too..

Dear Dell User,

You may experience that the system does not get past the Dell Bios screen (Dell logo screen).

To resolve this issue, you should consider the below steps:

1)first of all, clear nvram. steps given in below link:

Document Number: FA1035229

How do I clear NVRAM on my Dell™ Latitude™ system?

2)check if the issue gets resolved, if it doesn't, then restore BIOS (System Setup) to defaults. steps given in below link:
http://support.dell.com/us/en/kb/document.asp?DN=1035267

Document Number: FA1035267

If the issue still persists, then you should contact the Dell Technical support at
